A Freight Specialist is a freight shipping management service provider whose main focus is to organize the logistics, documentation and tracking of shipments whether by land, by sea and by air. Freight Specialists manage inbound and outbound shipping logistics for courier service providers, shipping companies and cargo transport carriers.
Fast Courier is a 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) company that provides freight specialist services to ensure an efficient and smooth freight forwarding experience for you. To effectively distribute shipments, Fast Courier uses various types of computer systems for communication, networking and designation of resources.
Our freight specialist services include calculating and confirming shipping costs, various freight charges, and finding out which shipping routes are the fastest and most efficient for your cargo. Fast Courier also provides location tracking of shipment throughout the course of transport.
Fast Courier offers freight delivery options tailored to best fit your specific shipping preferences. Whether by ground (land), rail, ocean or by air, each method of freight forwarding has its own processes that are different from each other:
There is Less Than Truckload (LTL) Freight, which refers to packages and products that do not fill up the entire truck. It is also known as Partial Truckload Freight. This option allows multiple shippers to share cargo space on one delivery truck. This means less delivery costs and charges compared to booking an entire truck. However, it can be slower compared to a Full Truckload shipping because of additional delivery and transfer stops.
On the other hand, we have Full Truckload (Truckload/FTL) Freight, where an entire delivery truck is allocated to only one shipper. This option is beneficial for clients with high-value shipments that need an exclusively allocated cargo space. FTL Freight is also the way to go for time-sensitive shipments as it involves less transit time, whereas LTL shipments require more time for transfers from one truck to another.
There is also Volume LTL Freight, which stands somewhere between the first two. Volume LTL means the shipment or cargo is bigger and heavier than LTL, but not enough to require an entire truck. This method can be beneficial to shippers who often use LTL freight, however, it is important to know the difference between them. Volume LTL shipments are usually based on a particular range of how many pallets of goods are being delivered. This means that this option can be tricky when it comes to pricing. But in spite of its complexity, volume freight shipping can be a more economical and time efficient method for some of your shipments.
Lastly, we have Intermodal Freight, which uses two or more modes of transport from the shipment’s origin to destination, such as truck and rail. This option usually requires your freight to be transported inside an intermodal container, without any direct handling of the cargo itself as it goes through transfers. This means less potential damage to your goods and it helps fast-track the delivery process. Intermodal freight transport also has lower shipping cost as it includes the use of railway systems, which requires less fuel compared to other types of road transport.

Volumetric weight, sometimes called dimensional weight, refers to the amount of space your package occupies on a truck or aircraft while it is being shipped. In other words, volumetric weight is the size—not the weight—of your package. Oftentimes a service will measure both the volumetric weight and the actual weight of a parcel; the bigger of the two numbers is then used to determine the cost of shipping.
