Justin Fairfax wins Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor

By | June 14, 2017

Former federal prosecutor Justin Fairfax defeated two other Democrats Tuesday to win the party’s nomination for lieutenant governor, according to unofficial results.

Fairfax, 38, who ran for attorney general in 2013 and narrowly lost in the Democratic primary to Mark Herring, defeated former prosecutor Gene Rossi and lobbyist and activist Susan Platt in Tuesday’s Democratic primary.

His campaign relied on ground-level politics in fending off Platt, who centered her campaign on opposition to President Donald Trump. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
