Minority communities across U.S. see significant increase in access to health insurance thanks to Obamacare

Only two years into the rollout of Obamacare, it’s still too soon to tell what lasting impact the health insurance marketplace will have.

But there have already been measurable success markers — some of the most significant being amongst minority communities.

“The implementation of the Affordable Care Act has been extremely successful in increasing access to health insurance for people of color,” across the U.S., says Sinsi Hernandez-Cancio, director of health equity at health care advocate site FamiliesUSA.org.

“Especially when comparing (the first) open enrollment (period) to (the second), there have been significant increases in the number of people of color who have been enrolling.” (New York Daily News)
