Former Florida congressman Allen West charged Georgia Republicans convening in Athens on Friday to embrace their message of conservative values and economic independence and to take that message to the inner cities of America.
For too long, West said, Republicans have ceded such territory to Democrats.
Republicans need to tell African Americans about the value of school choice as a means to educate themselves into a better life and reach out to Hispanics on the benefits of small business ownership, West said.
Until they do, West said Republicans “will continue to be shunned.”
“Where is the pride to living in section eight housing waiting on a welfare check from the government?” he asked the hundreds of Republicans gathered in the Classic Center for the state GOP convention. (Athens Banner-Herald)
