From one Morehouse Man to another, I disagree wholeheartedly. The Black community is undoubtedly still in need of Black leadership and a Black agenda. The “all boats rise and sink together” philosophy of serving the community has been proven baseless when considering issues like unemployment, healthcare, incarceration, education, etc. Consider the small developments in employment that have come from the recent stimulus and jobs programs. They had almost no effect for Black Americans.

If there is not policy in place that specifically seeks to erase the barriers to progress that STILL lie in place for many Black communities, then Black families will continue to not be heirs to the Promise that is life, liberty, and prosperity in this country. If our disadvantaged communities continue to suffer so will America as a whole. Leadership, no matter who is providing it, is as necessary to Black people as it is to any other special interest group.

Blacks should not be scared away from the business of the African American Community because of some whites calling you racist.

Glad to hear from you Morehouse Brother. So am I to assume that you, too, believe that the Obama Administration has failed our community because of a lack of specifically targeting “black issues?” (HBCU funding notwithstanding)
