February 27, 2010 is designated as “Delta Sigma Theta Census Awareness Day.” Chapters throughout the country will use this day to educate their local communities about the importance of Census participation. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., founded in 1913, is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world (www.deltasigmatheta.com). The major programs of the Sorority are based upon the organization’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust of: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.
