Authorities say a former high-ranking Detroit official will plead guilty to conspiracy, less than a week after he was implicated in a kickback scheme.
Gina Balaya (Buh-LYE’-uh), a spokeswoman for prosecutors, says Kandia Milton will plead guilty Thursday in federal court in Detroit.
Milton worked for Kwame Kilpatrick before the mayor left office in a scandal in 2008.
A former police officer, Jerry Rivers, pleaded guilty to conspiracy last week. He says he shared $50,000 with Milton and Milton’s brother, DeDan, after the city of Detroit sold a camp to the Chaldean Catholic Church in 2007.
Kandia Milton recommended the camp sale to the city council. A message seeking comment was left with his lawyer, Elliott Hall.
