- Steele is not the right man to lead the GOP.
When GOP Chairman Michael Steele appeared on Hardball with Chris Matthews Monday, he inadvertently told us something about the GOP.
Steele was elected to lead the Republican party because he is a black man. It was an obvious attempt at fooling people into thinking the GOP is not solely the party of old white guys. Here, Steele continued to prove he is not the best man for the job.
During the interview, Matthews asked Steele about GOP hypocrisy. He was trying to get at the fact that the GOP continues to shoot itself in the foot with women and minorities, because it continues to treat women and minorities with disdain, as evidenced by last week’s grilling of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor.
