Administrators of historically black land grant universities are getting together in South Carolina to discuss how they can work better together.
The Association of Extension Administrators begins a four-day conference in Charleston Monday. South Carolina State University in Orangeburg is acting as host school for this year’s meeting.
Representatives from 18 institutions known as 1890 land grant universities plan to explore funding opportunities to help them address issues like obesity, economic development and sustaining minority farmers.
Participants are also expected to discuss developing regional initiatives.
The institutions were created by an 1890 federal law that gave support to states to create institutions committed to educating minorities.
