Kansas African American Museum files complaint

The Kansas African American Museum has reported possible missing items and cash to police.

Lisa Dodson, the museum’s former interim executive director, filed a police report in December. The report does not name a suspect.

The incident comes as the Wichita museum has struggled to raise money and gain support from the community.

The museum has revamped programming and finally has an executive director after a 16-month search.

Police spokesman Gordon Bassham says the department can’t discuss ongoing investigations.

The department redacted sections in the police report that described the missing items. Museum officials also declined to comment.
