African-American leaders and community organizations will be calling for the defeat of the measure at a press conference today at 11 a.m. in front of the Metro Election Commission, 800 2nd Ave.
African-Americans should help defeat the amendment since they know the effects of discrimination, according to Keith Caldwell, an organizer and director of Urban EpiCenter, an organization devoted to bringing about racial and economic justice.
