OK… What’s next? A Black Man’s Rant…..

Nathaniel W. Tindall, III, Guest Commentary

- Right now, I am sitting on my sofa, drinking my coffee, and watching my daily dose of CNN. My “elite liberal” network has been so refreshing over the course of the past two years (of election coverage). They have hit the nail on the head with many issues. It has become blatantly clear what will be a major issue for us in the coming 4 years….

SARAH PALIN….

Now, one would say “Wasn’t she on the losing team?” or “Isn’t she back in Alaska?”. Well, my friends, she may be in the far away land of Alaska, but she ain’t (yes..I said AIN’T) going anywhere for the moment. Now, these “conservatives” are trying to re-brand her as the “smart, intelligent, leader” Sarah Palin… Now, this is not the Sarah Palin we grew to “love to dislike.”

I am writing this due to a couple of reasons. At a time when more job losses are expected and some families aren’t going to have presents under the Christmas tree, should “conservatives” be so worried about re-branding a woman who clearly helped her party to lose? OK… she didn’t have an abortion (by CHOICE)… and maybe she has high approval ratings in Alaska (Yeaaaa, pizza for everyone!)… However, shouldn’t we be trying to work with our incoming President to help the American people instead of raising the profile of Sarah Palin?? (Honestly, ANSWER me… because I am confused.)

Now, yes, I will give her some credit. She is the Governor of Alaska, and she is a Christian (as if that is a truly important). However, the GOP picked her to run and she embarASSed herself on the campaign trail. (She even went “rogue” for a minute…LOL)… However, as pure white as they want to re-paint this picture, she is still a lame duck until she gets up and does something for America now. If she feels so passionately about America, she should worry about ALL of America (not just small town America and Joe the plumber”/”Joe six pack”)… and do SOMETHING for the people. And when I say people, I mean “Shaniqua the cashier at Walmart”, “Alan the college student”, “Rob the factory worker”, or “Janae the mother of 3.” Don’t set up the next interview so you can talk about what you did, how Africa is a continent, and what Obama won’t do. Palin and the GOP, move on!

America has spoken and we chose Sen. (now President-Elect) Barack Obama. However, it seems like we have already kicked off ELECTION 2012 with Sarah Palin as the GOP front runner.

In these times, maybe we should take down our campaign banners, put our differences away, and help America… Do we really need to criticize Obama (who hasn’t even been installed in office) and say “Sarah Palin is what the party needs”? Or maybe, just maybe… we can come together and try to help someone, somebody, something (i.e., a failing auto industry, a family about to be foreclosed on, a disabled citizen who won’t be able to afford medicine, a veteran with PTSD, or the woman who sends her kids to a school in a broken school system)…

Oh no… that’s not what we need to do… We need to worry about Sarah Palin and her run in 2012. Point to yourself and say “Maverick.”

Forget Bush (he is leaving the White House and has served his time)… Forget the Election (happened – 11/4/2008)… and move on! If you say you love America and you are truly a Maverick (or put “Country First”), stop talking and do something productive. Picking a candidate for 2012, which is four years away, isn’t doing anything.

While we sit around criticizing and second guessing Obama's transition plans, you'd better
put one eye on the new laws and rules Bush is signing! It is common sense to assume that
his presidential actions can't fall far from the tree of last minute hand outs! like Teddy Pendergrast say's "Wake Up ALL You People"!

This whole question of racial and political correctness will get its greatest test, since the Civil War. As a Chicago firefighter who went through the trauma and emotion of a STRIKE, I liken it to the fact that when strikers pay checks were no more, they regressed to their animal state. Coupled with the fact that the real strike issues were, the federal Government had just invoked quotas for blacks& hispanics, and, about 2500 of the 5000 manned force lived out of town, which was a violation of the city's ordinance, and were being forced to move back into the city and pay taxes - that help to pay their salaries. RACE & HOME OWNERSHIP equates the major issues that plague our nation today. Although Barack Obama won by a landslide (in the electorial college) the American public is still divided by just a few percentage points, as evidenced by the popular vote. The divide is so close that it mirrors public opiniions of the Civil War era. What's Next.... The radical right has already begun to show its ugly head. The fact is that having a black president will open the doors of disourse on the subject of race. We have struggled with this question since the first white man set foot on this soil and it's high time that it be laid on the table. Barack Obama is a phenomenon who, by virtue of the color of his skin, will allow/force the question of race to have a genuine airing. I personally see the popular vote totals as a clear sign of the racist climate and culture of the USA. Under the cloak of an election this nation has clearly chosen sides - - - so let the fight begin.

    What are you upset about?
if McCain had won it would have been all Hillary all the time. Now you know what it feels like to have the shoe on the other foot. From the Moment Bush Stole the election in 2000 all forces were against him for 8 years. He was never given a moments rest from everyone who thought he was an imbicile. And you know what? He took it like a MAN and did not complain.
But you're all boo-hooing because what you don't understand is the media only cares about opposition. They could give a lousy wit about the future of this country being all lolypops and rainbows. (well maybe not rainbows, because you all hate gay people) thank you for that. That was a huge Sarah victory against Gays I don't feel McCain would've delivered.
Learn that now that you have power. You are the enemy and must be destroyed.
    Enjoy governing!!!!

    These comments sat just above mine, and I failed to read them before posting my opinions;
and I'm glad I didn't read them first. This contributer is among the racist segment of the population that I spoke about. In some ways this segment of our society is to be pittied, but,
if/when the revolution goes down - they must be restrained by any means necessary - - -
and I'll just leave it at that.

just because someone has a different opion than u does not not make them a racist.I personally have many african american friends and we dissagree on a few political issues but i am not a racist, an if u ask them they will tell u the same thing. So before u label someone racist because they dissagree with u try to find out the fundamental reason u dissagree. just calling some one a racist and generalizng them gets u nowhere u still have a difference of opion and dont understand why. So please be cautious with the use of that word. and as for restraining a group of the poupulation by any means nessary i will give u another quote " A house dived will never stand" dont contribute to the problem be part of the solution be the better person. May God bless you and have a wonderful day.

Govenor Palin needs a "reality check"! She was recently interviewed by Wolf Blitzer of CNN; who asked, "What advise would you give to Michele Obama about raising her girls in the White House?" Govenor Palin's answer is not relevant because she has a tendency to speak before her brain engages! If one were to compare parenting styles, it would appear that the Obama girls are receiving consistency with regards to ego building, good taste in behavior and manners; as well as clear life expectations. Then there is an inconsistent parenting style that gives the message that one sin is greater than another and it is alright to deflate another's character to win by "any means necessary!" Mr. Blitzer and others like him, should refrain from bolstering an inflated ego that needs to be deflated as soon as possible!

REV.KELVIN HALL
  • I co-sign to everything Mr. Tindall has written. I get physically ill each time I hear her name. She is getting more ink and coverage than the President-Elect. Ugh. I want her to return to Alaska (the largest state in the country in land mass, not population) and shoot moose/reindeer/caribous/whatever horned animal is up there. She is a disgrace to American politics and to women who want to be taken seriously in politics.
