In a high-stakes Presidential contest like this year’s event, especially one where the outcome appears close to the zealots of both parties, these excessive attempts to help your side take place.
“Sign” wars are a good example. Angry that their side’s signs are “being stolen”, organized reprisal raids against the other side’s signs are organized. No matter that the first sign may have been stolen by non-political teen aged vandals. After a day or so both Republican and Democratic signs are the victims of depredation.
