Congressman William Jefferson has picked up endorsements for his re-election bid from a group of New Orleans area ministers.
The endorsements by close to two dozen black ministers were announced at a Monday morning news conference.
Jefferson placed first, with about 25% of the vote, in the Oct. 4 Democratic primary despite his indictment on federal corruption charges. He faces a Nov. 4 runoff with the second-place finisher, former television reporter Helena Moreno. Jefferson is seeking his 10th term in Congress, representing a district that covers most of New Orleans and parts of Jefferson Parish.
