- Countering numerous media reports of her death, doctors for Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones say that she is on life support and still alive.
Tubbs Jones, the first black woman elected to the House from Ohio, was hospitalized Tuesday night after police pulled over her car and found her unconscious behind the wheel.
A Huron Hospital spokeswoman said Tubbs Jones, 58, had suffered an aneurysm that caused her to lose consciousness. Sources told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that Tubbs Jones died at 12:19 Wednesday after she was removed from life support. But doctors appearing at a 2 p.m. news conference said Tubbs Jones is still alive.
