- grass-roots group has launched a radio ad to support Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who faces 10 felony counts in two criminal cases.
A spokesman for Citizens for an Honest Government said Tuesday the ad is a reminder that Kilpatrick has constitutional rights and should have his day in court.
Adolph Mongo also complains that the mayor is being treated by prosecutors and some judges more harshly than an average person charged with similar offenses.
Kilpatrick and his ex-top aide face trial on perjury and other charges from testimony they gave during a whistle-blowers’ case. Kilpatrick is charged separately with assaulting two investigators trying to serve a subpoena on one of his friends.
Mongo says the ad is to run through the week on local stations.
