- A respected African American Detroit newspaper is fed up with the mayoral mess and will make a major announcement in its Wednesday morning edition.
The Michigan Chronicle is expected to ask Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to resign Wednesday, the day after a group of influential local ministers released a statement asking for the mayor’s resignation.
Rochelle Riley, from the Detroit Free Press told Local 4 this is a historic move because it shows there is a lessening of support from the people he’s counted on for a long time — the black ministers and the prominent black papers.
