- As Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was jailed today, several prominent metro Detroit leaders said the time has come for the mayor to step down.Detroit City Councilwoman Alberta Tinsley-Talabi, who has called for Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to resign, but previously opposed efforts to remove him from office, now says she will support “whatever it takes” to oust Kilpatrick from office.

Tinsley-Talabi told the Free Press that includes voting in favor of removing the mayor through the forfeiture process launched by the council.

“My concern is the overall city and our citizens and how do we move forward,” said Tinsley-Talabi, one of the four members who opposed launching forfeiture proceedings and asking the governor to remove Kilpatrick. “Truly, this is a snowball. I feel like it’s come to a head.”
