Iraq official says US troops could leave by 2010

Associated Press

- Iraq’s government spokesman is hopeful that U.S. combat forces could be out of the country by 2010.

Ali al-Dabbagh made the comments following a meeting in Baghdad on Monday between Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama, who arrived in Iraq earlier in the day.

The timeframe is similar to Obama’s proposal to pull back combat troops within 16 months. The Iraqi government has been trying to clarify its position on a possible troop withdrawal since al-Maliki was quoted in a German magazine last week saying he supported Obama’s timetable.

The Iraqi government later said the prime minister’s remarks were misinterpreted.

Obama is a consummate professional who simply is setting a “goal” to withdraw troops based on a timeline. Now that the back peddling and “misquotes” or the past few days have been turned into a 2010 “goal” close to Obama timeframe and no where near McCain’s 100 year war, the man with wisdom beyond his years prevails.

On CNN tonight on Anderson’s 360, David Gergen tried to make Obama appear to have stepped across the line accusing Obama of negotiating while meeting with Maliki– which is a purely “presidential” action. Mr. Gergen is off-base. Obama is on a fact finding mission and the fact remains, he has the right to discuss his vision of ending the Iraq war with the Prime Minister.

The exchange of ideas in the meeting prove Obama is not inexperienced. The Prime Minister shares a similar goal with the Presumptive Democratic Nominee. Obama is prepared to be Commander in Chief BEFORE DAY 1!

    Yes he can.

Obama is a puppet to the DNC. He is afraid to have town hall meetings with McCain and he has flipped on everything the far left kooks admire him for. Is this the guy we will trust for president?? Not me.
