- One of the “presidents” of the African-American Caucus of the NC Democratic Party (AAC-NCDP) threatens that blacks “ain’t going to vote” for white Democrats in November as a protest against Party Chairman Jerry Meek for his attempt to address the group’s ongoing internal dispute.
Michael Lawson, who claimed the AAC-NCDP presidency after two controversial elections, was so angered by what he sees as Meek’s attempt to “disenfranchise” the black Democratic Party auxiliary group, that he doesn’t buy any explanation given for the chairman’s attempts to bring peace to the situation.
“He’s lying through his teeth, and if he’s lying about this, he’s lying about everything else,” Lawson told The Wilmington Journal last week regarding a claim that Meek deleted a copy of as complaint Lawson emailed to him.
“They want to play this game?” Lawson continued, referring to the NCDP and Meek. “Well you know what, African-Americans are not going to not get out and vote. They will get out and vote for Obama. But you know what the main problem here is?,” an angry Lawson asked rhetorically, eventually answering his own question, “White candidates have the problem, because we ain’t going to vote for them, because this is bull!”
