- State Representative Alisha Morgan (D-Austell) announces her support for the “Save Our Youth: Stop The Violence Weekend” taking place this Friday, June 27- Sunday, June 29, 2008, through-out South Cobb County, Georgia.
Due to recent incidences of violence against youth and families in the South Cobb County area, Representative Morgan, the Cobb County Police Department, the Family Life Restoration Center, various community organizations and churches including her own, “Destiny World Church”, have joined forces to host 3-days of activities to address the issues of youth and family violence this weekend.
The weekend of June 27-29, 2008, will include a teen forum, “Gun Buy Back” program and information sessions, along with churches county-wide ending the series of activities with a message of peace and family love to their congregations.
The events are as follows:
- Friday, from 6pm -9pm – Teen Forum featuring a panel and special guest host Greg Street of V-103, at the South Cobb Recreation Center.
- Saturday, 9:00am-12:00pm – Gun Buy Back at Destiny World Church, 7400 Factory Shoals Rd, Austell 30168.
- Saturday, 10:00am-2:00pm – Seminars/ workshops for parents and teens, Destiny World Church, 7400 Factory Shoals Rd, Austell 30168.
- Sunday, 7:45am & 11am – Sermons to “Stop The Violence & Find Peace” at churches through-out Cobb County.
“It is my hope that this weekend’s program will shed light on the growing violence against our area’s youth and I hope to make a difference in the lives of our children,” states Representative Alisha Morgan.
