- I saw the commercial for Flava Flav’s sitcom “Under One Roof” yesterday. Next to the lineup of shows for the evening they had the former Public Enemy’s picture with his mouth wide open and his fronts all out, just like a black slave posing for the slave masters and their friends. And I thought the only coons that existed were the Southern rappers like Lil Jon, Three 6 Mafia, Chamillionaire, and others who like to open their mouths up wide in the camera with their grillz flashing to and frow. But then, Flava Flav let MTV make a minstrel show monkey out of him with that TV series he did with that white girl, and then came “Flavor of Love.” Two or three seasons, matter of fact. Now this “Under One Roof” business. I’m glad I wasn’t able to stay home long enough to watch it.
