April 30, 2008
CBS 2
- For the first time since Barack Obama lashed out at his former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton has weighed in on the controversy.
In an interview Wednesday with Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly that will air tonight, Clinton says that she found the comments made by Wright to be “offensive and outrageous.”
Clinton also reiterated her previous remarks about Wright that she would not have stayed in the church after hearing the comments. She said it was up to voters to decide how the controversy over Wright impacts the campaign.

Jesse Jackson Fetes Ethnic Media for Rebuilding New Orleans
April 30, 2008
Anthony D. Advincula, New America Media
- The Rev. Jesse Jackson called on members of ethnic media on Thursday to unite and support the revitalization efforts in New Orleans. “We should help each other, promote each other, and learn from each other,” Jackson said in a press conference held at Xavier University. “We need to find a common ground to connect us – and push for better healthcare, education, economy, and employment.”
The crucial process of economic reconstruction, he said, is to allow the old-time Nola residents who fled from Katrina to come back and reconstruct their houses. “Allow the displaced to return from exile!” Calling the minority journalists the “media arm of our struggle,” Jackson said that post-Katrina New Orleans should be reported not just “through the lens of white perspective” but more so through the plight of those who suffer.
