Dr. Julia Speller, is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ with a Ph.D. in Church History from the University of Chicago. Dr. Dwight Hopkins, a Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary in New York, is a Professor at the University of Chicago Divinity School. The Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., who participated on a segment with Hannity and Colmes in February of 2007 would also be a likely candidate for journalist engaging in due diligence. However, neither of these persons have been contacted by Fox News. Countless other scholars, and experts across this country could capably inform Fox News about Trinity United Church of Christ. Without journalistic due diligence, we hold that it is impossible to do fair and balanced reporting.

This tradition has produced clerical competency from a Rev. John Jasper to Dr. Gardner Taylor. This tradition has been the foundation of intellectual giants from W.E.B. DuBois to Dr. Cornell West. This tradition has set the stage for Sojourner Truth, and Rev. Harriet Tubman. This tradition fueled the passion of Ida B. Wells, and Nannie Helen Burroughs. From this tradition comes the spiritual genius of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

He said that Senator Clinton would never understand like Obama understand what it means to be a black man in america. Why is the bigotted? As a black woman I assure you that I will never understand what it means to be a black man in America. As the mother of two black men, the sister to black brothers, the niece to black uncles, the daughter to black men and the granddaughter of a black gandfather – - I still do not fully understand what it means to be a black man in america. I have not lived their experience. So that statement was a factual truth.

As to the statement about America, the history of america oppression is long, the pastor was making a valid point – that if you look at the long history of america aggression and oppression; it is easy to understand the anger that others would have for us. If we continue to buy into the ludicrous idea that they hate us because of our freedom (freedom we have so willing given up by the way) and not the continous direct and indirect military interference in their lives. . then we are doom – damned if you will. even today we continue a war that is killing thousands of iraq of men, women and children and what is our concern — how many americans have died. We are damned and these chickens will come home to roost. and we need get our collective head’s out of our collective asses.
