Pro-Life Leaders Close Out Black History Month With Condemnation of Abortion
February 28, 2008
Steven Ertelt, LifeNews.com
A group of highly touted African-American pro-life leaders closed out Black History Month with a press conference at the Family Research Council headquarters in Washington. The event drew pastors, parents, leaders, and activists from across America to call on abortion advocates to stop preying on the black community.
The activists also led a prayer vigil at a local abortion business and attended an afternoon Capitol Hill reception at the Cannon House Office Building.
Ironically the event comes on the heels of a new investigative report from pro-life students at UCLA who say Planned Parenthood abortion businesses accepted a fake donation from an actor calling and pretending to give it to increase black abortions.
Kenya Power-Sharing Agreement Needs Support From Parliament

Karl Maier, Bloomberg
The success of Kenya’s power-sharing agreement between the government and the opposition depends on laws Parliament must pass to outline the roles of President Mwai Kibaki and his rival, Raila Odinga, analysts said.
As leader of the opposition Orange Democratic Movement, the biggest party in Parliament, Odinga is expected to become prime minister. Today’s agreement doesn’t define his exact role except to say he will “coordinate and supervise” the government.
“What this agreement now represents is a distribution of seats, but what is needed is a sustainable end to the crisis,” said Francois Grignon, director of the Africa Program at the Brussels-based International Crisis Group. “Unless we have a clear program of government, this power-sharing won’t hold.”
Bush attacks Obama foreign policy plan

President Bush attacked a key foreign policy stance of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), contending heatedly at a news conference Thursday morning that talking to dictators without preconditions can be dangerous and counterproductive.
Obama’s argument that the president “should never fear to negotiate” with America’s enemies — including Cuba’s new leader, Raul Castro — is one of his clearest differences with his rival for the presidential nomination, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.).
At a news conference where Bush showed unusual passion for a president in his waning months, he said “now is not the time” to talk with Castro.
Black backers steadfast for Clinton

African-American superdelegates said Thursday that they’ll stand up against threats, intimidation and “Uncle Tom” smears rather than switch their support from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to Sen. Barack Obama.
“African-American superdelegates are being targeted, harassed and threatened,” said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Mo.), a superdelegate who has supported Clinton since August. Cleaver said black superdelegates are receiving “nasty letters, phone calls, threats they’ll get an opponent, being called an Uncle Tom.
“This is the politics of the 1950s,” he complained. “A lot of members are experiencing a lot of ugly stuff. They’re not going to talk about it, but it’s happening.”
