Sen. Hillary Clinton could be in the cross hairs at Tuesday’s Democratic presidential debate. But for Clinton, that’s nothing new.
The senator from New York is the overwhelming frontrunner in all the national polls, and with just over two months to go before the primaries kick off, her Democratic rivals need to find a way to level the playing field.
Attacking Clinton could be the ticket, and Tuesday’s debate provides a golden opportunity.
Bill Cosby’s “tough love” is misguided and cruel
October 25, 2007
Rhonda Hackett, Denver Post
Bill Cosby’s “tough love” toward blacks has set off a firestorm. Some proclaim that Cosby’s barbs are bluntly accurate, given blacks’ apparent over-reliance on the notion that whites are to blame for everything wrong in the black community. Others decry Cosby for ignoring the varied political and social realities that continue to negatively impact the black community.
Since his May 2004 speech before the NAACP, Cosby has led a very public march against blacks. It would appear he has fully embraced the philosophy of right- wing conservatives who suggest that millions of black people live in abject poverty by their own doing. Without doubt, there are black people living in poverty who are not assuming responsibility for their own lives. That’s the case for every race, though, isn’t it? By targeting his gripes exclusively to the poor black community, Cosby fuels the notion that there’s something wholly unique and blameworthy associated with being African- American.

John Eggerton, Broadcasting & Cable
The Black Leadership Forum wrote the Federal Communications Commission arguing that a variety of proposals from FCC chairman Kevin Martin would “damage” the business models of minority programmers. One of those is a digital-TV spectrum-leasing arrangement the chairman circulated for a vote by the other commissioners and advocated at a recent minority media conference.
No Guarantees With Nearly Three Months to First Primary Votes
October 15, 2007
Carl Cameron and Caroline Shively, Foxnews.com
Many people haven’t been paying attention to the primary race on either the Democratic or Republican side. Recent polling shows that more than half of all voters in the early primary states have not yet formed their final opinions.
That means the toughest days lie ahead for national frontrunners Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton, who are certain to see their races tighten up despite commanding leads in public preference polls.
